An exhibition of paintings by Wendy Stamer, sponsored by the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, is opening at the Performing Arts Center of Sussex County Community College, One College Hill Road, Newton, on June 28 through August 22.  The exhibit features 21 paintings.  Her work focuses on scenes of Sussex County where the artist has lived all her life. She says, “I have an overwhelming concern for conserving the fragile beauty of the natural areas and farmland of Sussex County. Through my paintings I hope to preserve the rich tapestries of this rural landscape.”  A reception with Wendy will be held at the Performing Arts Center on Thursday, July 20 from 6 to 8 PM. It is free and everyone is welcome.

Barns, birds, wildlife, lakes and woodland scenes are most often the subject of Wendy's work. She mainly paints with oils, but often finds that watercolors or pastels are more suited to portraying the beauty of her scene.  She loves to capture the play of light dancing through leaves and on rolling hills, dramatic skies or the colors of nature through the seasons.

Wendy teaches watercolor workshops at Unity of Sussex County, for the Sparta Woman’s Club and the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, as well as private lessons.   Her paintings may be viewed on her website at:  wendystamerfineart.weebly.com.  Her work has been accepted in numerous New Jersey shows, and she exhibits locally in banks, restaurants, libraries and offices.  She is an invited artist at the NJ State Fair.  In addition, Wendy has created limited edition prints for the Newton Hospital Auxiliary house tour, Project Self Sufficiency and the International Charolais Association.
